Nice podcast! I'm a bit of a Princess Bride enthusiast and thought I'd add a few notes I found about your questions and comments about the movie (and book a tad). - As far as I've discovered, the book wasn't based off of any other piece of literature such as the Odyssey, but it was instead a direct abridgement of the Florinese work by S. Morganstern based off the historical events that took place in what is northern Germany. - Although this point is dulled in the movie, Vizzini does in fact have some smarts. On multiple occasions it is explained that Fezzik and Inigo depend on his brains and he even reads people's minds. - Fad's suck, and anyone that tells you otherwise is selling you something. - I don't think anyone will disagree the movie looks very low budget, but from what I've heard, a hulk of the budget was spent on sets and background. This includes the sword fight scene, the pit of despair, Miracle Max's house, the house Inigo recovers in, the Fireswamp, and the exterior of the castle itself where they added towers to it to make it look more medieval. - The Princess Bride is an MLT, or cough drops. I loved listening to the podcast and am considering bringing it up for the Princess Bride Roundtable in the future. Happy sailing and Godspeed!
